Tracking is behind $VisualEditorTrackBlockNotices config flag
which is set to false by default. Additional data will be logged
into a different bucket on the client and both metrics will be
considered with their known limitations.
The reason behind this is to get an idea on how frequently blocked
users attempt to edit a page. Similar tracking is being added to
MobileFrontend and mediawiki/core.

Implement special node types for language variant markup, so that they
display appropriately based on the currently-selected variant.
(Parsoid uses empty elements to represent this markup, so without this
patch anything in -{ ... }- is alienated and disappears.)
A follow-up patch will implement context items and inspectors to
allow editing these nodes. This patch is basic "read-only" support.

The styles are not specific to the Vector and MonoBook skins, but rather
to the MediaWiki and Apex themes of OOjs UI. Rename them to reflect that.

The bare minimum of elements that must be present on the page for
VisualEditor to start and mostly work is:
* '#content' to attach our interface (toolbar etc.)
* '#mw-content-text' to replace with the editing surface
* '#ca-edit' to start up the editor
When those elements are missing (and we expect them to be present,
e.g. we're not on a special page), we print a console warning.
For example, VisualEditor now launches on Timeless and CologneBlue.
It does not launch and prints a warning on Modern and Erudite.
(It is actually possible to edit and save pages on CologneBlue,
although various pieces of the interface look funny.)
This does not change which skins we claim to support: these are still
currently only Vector, MonoBook and Apex. But it allows third-party
skin developers to more easily test the editor and fiddle with their
CSS to make it look right.

After 79ccfb9372cb57afa569036ef39ead13abfba673, MediaWiki's `<pre>`
tags get rendered as `<pre typeof="mw:Extension/pre">` in Parsoid HTML.
MediaWiki's indent-pre syntax (block indented by a single space) is
still rendered as `<pre>` in Parsoid HTML, however.
Indent-pre is still handled by MWPreformattedNode (no changes).
Introducing MWPreNode, which will handle `<pre>` extension tags,
and MWPreDialog to change its contents (and allow converting
to MWPreformattedNode).
Pieces copied from MWGalleryNode, MWLinkNodeInspector, CommentInspector.
Possible future improvements:
* Add a specific icon for MWPreContextItem
* Avoid API roundtrips for rendering (but rendering wikitext <pre>
is not as simple as it looks)
* Consider a way to insert these other than '<pre' sequence

e.g. link, alt text, etc. These are dependent on parsing

specified in wikitext in the image-specific caption

This can happen when the user gets logged out on a private wiki.
We get a badtoken error, so we try to refetch the token, which
itself returns an error. Token refetches didn't have error handling
at all and got the save dialog stuck in the pending state.
We can't offer the user to proceed with a different identity here,
because we encountered an error while trying to figure out what their
current identity is. The best we can do is encourage them to
log back in in a different tab.

This module is (and always has been) referenced by
ve.init.mw.Platform, so ensure it is loaded before that.
Previously this was not a problem because it was inside a
function that was never run unless the language search widget
was invoked.
This probably makes a good case to not put these functions
in platform, but that is for another day.

Was being thrown on all read pages and caused VE to no longer
load properly.
Three places make use of $.cookie():

* ve.ui.MWEducationPopupTool.js
Presumably this worked by luck previously due to another extension
or core module depending on it and loading earlier but no more.

VisualEditor is usually not enabled in talk namespaces... but
sometimes it is. And when users see the button to edit with VE,
they're going to click it and expect to be able to sign their posts.
This tool is only loaded on talk pages and pages in additional
namespaces defined in $wgExtraSignatureNamespaces.
Code adapted with small tweaks from my own gadget

which is already available under the MIT license.
Changes include:
* The tool is now always visible if the wiki allows signatures in any

As part of the plan to render extension errors in the
inspector instead of the view, append an element to
contain the error. More specifically, the element is
a div that contains a LabelWidget (in which the error
message is displayed) and a ButtonWidget (to expand
and collapse the error).
Initially the error element is hidden, but if Parsoid
returns an error, the element will be shown. If the
error is longer than 1 line, it is truncated but can
be expanded. On closing the inspector, any remaining
error is collapsed and hidden.

We want to flip the default of visualeditor-enable to true, but don't
necessarily want to turn it on for users who already have contributions but who
haven't already enabled it. Therefore we're considering adding such users to
this autodisable preference which they can self-remove (by explicitly enabling
VE) or we can target later, separate from betatempdisable users.

$wgVisualEditorPrefix is now deprecated. Parsoid is configured using
VRS (preferred) or $wgVisualEditorDomain, which defaults to
$wgCanonicalServer.
This bumps our MW-core dependency to 1.26wmf21.

This invokes Parsoid to convert likely wikitext pastes.
This addresses about 20% of the <nowiki> insertion quantified at
https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikip%C3%A9dia:%C3%89diteurVisuel/Avis/Nowiki
for 2015-04-08 which were due to inadvertent pastes of wikitext.
For a better user experience, suppress Parsoid's P-wrapping if the
output consists of a single top-level P element. This ensures that
pasting '[[Foo]]' won't add an unexpected newline before the paste.

Starting with I21fbbd3247bf7801e5ef9bd5312f95777f4dd6ef, Parsoid
will emit a new HTML for its Cite extension, which enables CSS
styling. In I487095df8a7c4241a14f7b4480360f6774130bec the new
module 'ext.cite.style' is added to the Cite extension to style
this new HTML format.
This patch
* Loads the ext.cite.style module if the Cite extension is
present.
* Uses the new HTML format for the internal structure of
reference and reference list nodes, so they are correctly
styled.
Backwards compatibility: Only new HTML is used internally in VE,
so as long as ext.cite.style can be loaded the new styles will be
used. It does not depend on which format Parsoid returns, so this
patch only depends on the Cite extension patch, not on the Parsoid
one.
Note: The only way I've found of adding a ext.cite.style dependency
only if Cite is present is to register the whole
ext.visualEditor.mwreference module in the
onResourceLoaderRegisterModules hook. Maybe someone can point to
a better way?

We used to re-label the other edit tab but this fell away for Wikimedia users
when we switched from adding a new tab to replacing the old one via config;
over-riding 'tooltip-ca-edit' looks like the best way of doing this here. The
mention of wikitext means it's less of a shock to users.
