Note there is still an issue with the upstream OO.ui.BookletLayout.selectFirstSelectablePage() method stealing the focus in some situations when you press space. Still this patch already improves the situation. Pressing space on both top-level template elements as well as parameters should scroll the thing into view, but keep the focus in the sidebar.
