Trevor Parscal 4192cbc4d5 Window refactor
Changes:

* Cleanup the window API to use more consistent and intuitive methods - we
  now use initialize/setup/teardown instead of
  initialize/onSetup/onOpen/onClose as methods which are overridden, and
  use open/close methods to control the window
* Change events around to have opening/open and closing/close events which
  act as before/after points during the opening/closing process
* Make WindowSet and Context respond to windows being opened, rather than
  opening them directly
* Fix a LinkInspector creation mode bug where the initial text doesn't get
  reset
* Move inspector, a VisualEditor concept, back to VE
* Cleanup naming of SurfaceDialog, SurfaceToolbar, etc. to use shorter
  names, they were given Surface* names when the generic ones were also in
  VE, but now the generic ones are in OO, so they can return to their
  original names

Trevor Parscal d2dfb9ac4f Split oojs-ui from ve.ui
* Move and rename generic parts of ve.ui to OO.ui
* We now have a UI test suite because ve.Element (outside ve.ui)
  is now part of oojs-ui, so it needs a test suite.
* Added to the MW test run (just like we do for unicodejs).
* Updated csslint config (also added ve-mw and syntaxhighlight
  which were missing).

oojs-ui still depends on the TriggerRegistry in VE, this is addressed
in a follow-up commit.

Roan Kattouw e9ca44c86c Transplant CSS from the main document to each iframe
We previously manually loaded CSS into these frames, which is flawed
because it completely bypasses ResourceLoader (so CSSJanus didn't flip
them, necessitating a bunch of hacks for RTL), and doesn't pull in
MediaWiki styles (so templates inside references don't render correctly).
Instead, this commit copies all styles from the main document into each
frame's document, inlining what it can.

Loading all styles in dialogs and inspectors caused some problems,
initially. We didn't namespace our styles for dialogs vs. inspectors
at all; the only reason inspector styles weren't being applied to dialogs
and vice versa was because we controlled which files were being loaded
in which context. This commit namespaces the inspector and dialog styles
where needed so they don't conflict and try to override each other.

Tested in Vector and Monobook, but not in Apex and not in RTL.

ve.init.mw.ViewPageTarget*.css:
* Namespace styles that are only intended for the main document
* Undo Monobook's font-size: x-small; in frames

*Dialog.js:
* Remove addLocalStylesheet() calls, we don't need those any more
** ve.ui.MWDialog seems to be unneeded now, we may want to remove it

*.css:
* Remove @noflip-ped RTL rules where they were just flipped versions of
  their LTR counterparts

ve.ui.Dialog.css, ve.ui.Inspector.css:
* Namespace styles with .ve-ui-dialog-content / .ve-ui-inspector-content

ve.ui.Frame.css:
* Move the margin:0 and padding:0 here (were in the frame <body>'s style
  attribute) and add background:none to prevent frames from getting
  the skin's background (grey in Vector, a book in Monobook)

ve.ui.Dialog.js, ve.ui.Inspector.js:
* Add ve-ui-dialog-content / ve-ui-inspector-content class to the
  frame's content <div> so we can restrict styles to only apply in
  dialogs / inspectors

ve.ui.Frame.js:
* Replace infrastructure for @import-ing stylesheets with transplantation
* Remove code polling to see when the stylesheets were loaded
** We can't do this in the new approach AFAIK, since all styles in the
   frame are either inlined or inaccessible due to the same-origin policy
** We also shouldn't need it because the browser should have cached the
   styles when it loaded the main document
* Apply ve-ui-frame-body class to the frame's <body> so we can style it
** Move inline padding:0;margin:0; into ve.ui.Frame.css
** Move the ve-ltr/ve-rtl class up to the <body>

ve.ui.Window.js:
* Remove infrastructure registering stylesheet URLs to load

Roan Kattouw 92c38eab85 The great directory split of 2013
Move all MW-specific files into the ve-mw directory, in preparation
for moving them out into a separate repo.

All MW-specific files were moved into a parallel directory structure
in modules/ve-mw . Files with both generic and MW-specific things were
split up. Files in ve/init/mw/ were moved to ve-mw/init/ rather than
ve-mw/init/mw ; they're still named ve.init.mw.* but we should change
that. Some of the test files for core classes had MW-specific test cases,
so those were split up and the test runner was duplicated; we should
refactor our tests to use data providers so we can add cases more easily.

Split files:
* ve.ce.Node.css
* ve.ce.ContentBranchNode.test.js (MWEntityNode)
* ve.ce.Document.test.js (some core test cases genericized)
* ve.dm.InternalList.test.js (uses mwReference test document)
* ve.dm.SurfaceFragment.test.js, ve.ui.FormatAction.test.js
** Made core tests use heading instead of mwHeading
** Updated core tests because normal headings don't break out of lists
** Moved test runners into ve.test.utils.js
* ve.ui.Icons-*.css
* ve.ui.Dialog.css (MW parts into ve.ui.MWDialog.css)
* ve.ui.Tool.css
* ve.ui.Widget.css (move ve-ui-rtl and ve-ui-ltr to ve.ui.css)

ve.dm.Converter.test.js: Moved runner functions into ve.test.utils.js

ve.dm.example.js:
* Refactored createExampleDocument so mwExample can use it
* Removed wgExtensionAssetsPath detection, moved into mw-preload.js
* Genericized withMeta example document (original version copied to mwExample)
* Moved references example document to mwExample

ve.dm.mwExample.js:
* Move withMeta and references example documents from ve.dm.example.js
* Add createExampleDocument function

ve-mw/test/index.php: Runner for MW-specific tests only

ve-mw/test/mw-preload.js: Sets VE_TESTDIR for Special:JavaScriptTest only

ve.ui.Window.js:
* Remove magic path interpolation in addLocalStyleSheets()
* Pass full(er) paths to addLocalStyleSheets(), here and in subclasses

ve.ui.MWDialog.js: Subclass of Dialog that adds MW versions of stylesheets

ve.ui.MW*Dialog.js:
* Subclass MWDialog rather than Dialog
* Load both core and MW versions of stylesheets that have both

ve.ui.PagedDialog.js: Converted to a mixin rather than an abstract base class
* Don't inherit ve.ui.Dialog
* Rather than overriding initialize(), provide initializePages() which the
  host class is supposed to call from its initialize()
* Rename onOutlineSelect to onPageOutlineSelect

ve.ui.MWMetaDialog.js, ve.ui.MWTransclusionDialog.js:
* Use PagedDialog as a mixin rather than a base class, inherit MWDialog

bullet-icon.png: Unused, deleted

Stuff we should do later:
* Refactor tests to use data providers
* Write utility function for SVG compat check
* Separate omnibus CSS files such as ve.ui.Widget.css
* Separate omnibus RL modules
* Use icon classes in ViewPageTarget

Trevor Parscal 6b5310c562 ve.ui.ViewRegistry annihilation
Objectives:
* Associate models with tools, rather than dialogs and inspectors
* Move tool/model association utilities to ve.ui.ToolFactory
* Obliterate the view registry

Notes:

The only special case for leaving modelClasses definitions in place is
for the linkInspector. It uses these for selection expansion.
Because tools can now override the static canEditModel method, we can
dynamically evaluate a model, rather than be restricted to only
comparing classes. This will be useful for disabling editors for models
that are for some reason incomplete or otherwise broken and cannot be
safely edited.

Timo Tijhof 2fb1a11a1a Straighten out variances in parent method invocation
Follows-up I99acbd1699:
* "Parent method" comment
* Remove redundant slice() call to convert arguments to array,
  native JavaScript methods that take array-like arguments such
  as Function#apply and Array#slice are both compatible with
  the Arguments objects, no need to convert it. Most invocations
  already did this right but a few were recently introduced again.
* Removed silly "Document dialog." descriptions.
* Removed a few redundant "@method" tags in the near vicinity
  of code I changed.
* Fixed function invocation to be either on one line or
  one parameter per line. Having all arguments on one line
  but the name + "(" looks confusing as it suggest there
  is only 1 parameter. Same as object literals:
  so:
  { foo: 1, bar }
  or:
  {
    foo: 1,
    bar: 2,
  }
  not:
  {
    foo: 1, bar: 2
  }

Trevor Parscal 2e76271b4e The Great ve.ui.Surface refactor of 2013
Prologue:

Farewell ve.Editor my good chap… Oh, hey there HTML frames - I didn't
see you there! In a world where iframes are outlaws, and symbols like
document and window are global, there were more than a few assumptions
about which document or window was being used. But fear not - for this
commit (probably) tracks them all down, leaving a trail of
iframe-compatible awesomeness in its wake. With the great ve.ui.Surface
now able to be used inside of iframes, let the reference editing
commence. But there, lurking in the darkness is a DM issue so fierce it
may take Roan and/or Ed up to 3 whole hours to sort it out.

Note to Roan and/or Ed:

Editing references seems to work fine, but when saving the page there
are "no changes" which is a reasonable indication to the contrary.

Objectives:

* Make it possible to have multiple surfaces be instantiated, get along
  nicely, and be embedded inside of iframes if needed.
* Make reference content editable within a dialog

Approach:

* Move what's left of ve.Editor to ve.ui.Surface and essentially
  obliterate all use of it
* Make even more stuff inherit from ve.Element (long live this.$$)
* Use the correct document or window anywhere it was being assumed to be
  the top level one
* Resolve stacking order issues by removing the excessive use of z-index
  and introducing global and local overlay elements for each editor
* Add a surface to the reference dialog, load up the reference contents
  and save them back on apply
* Actually destroy what we create in ce and ui surfaces
* Add recursive frame offset calculation method to ve.Element
* Moved ve.ce.Surface's getSelectionRect method to the prototype

Bonus:

* Move ve.ce.DocumentNode.css contents to ve.ce.Node.css (not sure why it
  was separate in the first place, but I'm likely the one to blame)
* Fix blatant lies in documentation
* Whitespace cleanup here and there
* Get rid of ve.ui.Window overlays - not used or needed

Trevor Parscal a56e795f58 ve.Editor
Objectives:

* Split ve.Surface into ve.Editor and ve.ui.Surface
* Move actions, triggers and commands to ve.ui
* Move toolbar wrapping, floating, shadow and actions functionality to configurable options of ve.ui.Toolbar
* Make ve.ce.Surface and ve.ui.Surface inherit ve.Element and use this.$$ for iframe friendliness
* Make the toolbar separately initialized so it's possible to have a surface without one, as well as control where the toolbar is

Some change notes:

VisualEditor.php
* Added standalone module for mediawiki integrated unit testing

ve.ce.Surface.js
* Remove requirement to pass in an attached container to construct object
* Inherit ve.Element and use this.$$ instead of $
* Make getSelectionRect iframe friendly
* Move most of the initialize stuff to a new initialize method to be called after the surface is attached to the DOM

ve.init.mw.ViewPageTarget.js
* Merge toolbar functions into setup/teardown methods
* Add toolbar manually (since it's not added by the surface anymore)

ve.init.sa.Target.js
* Update new init procedure for editor, surface and toolbar separately
* Move toolbar floating stuff to ve.Toolbar

Trevor Parscal 7233ea8f1b EventEmitter API cleanup
The EventEmitter API we inherited from Node.js and then bastardized was
getting awkward and cumbersome. The number of uses of ve.bind was getting
out of control, and removing events meant caching the bound method in a
property. Many of the "features" of EventEmitter wasn't even being used,
some causing overhead, others just causing bloat. This change cleans up
how EventEmitter is used throughout the codebase.

The new event emitter API includes:
* emit - identical to the previous API, no longer throws an error if you
  emit error without a handler
* once - identical to the previous API, still introduces a wrapper* on -
  compatible with the previous API but has some new features
* off - identical to removeListener in the previous API
* connect - very similar to addListenerMethods but doesn't wrap callbacks
  in closures anymore
* disconnect - new, basically the opposite of addListenerMethods

Another change that is made in this commit is mixing in rather than
inheriting from EventEmitter.

Finally, there are changes throughout the codebase anywhere
connect/disconnect could be used.

Trevor Parscal bf254f44da UI "Views" refactor
Objective:

Make it possible for inspectors to inspect nodes or annotations, rather
than only annotations. Meanwhile, also make it possible for dialogs to
edit an annotation.

Strategy:

Switch from using type patterns to associate inspectors with annotations
to using arrays of classes, similar to how dialogs already work.
Introduce a view registry which provides lookups for relationships
between models and views. This is more centralized and less repetitive
than implement matching functions for both annotations and nodes in both
the dialog and inspector factories.

Changes:

*.php
* Added links to new file

ve.AnnotationAction.js
* Removed unused parameter to filter annotations using a string or regexp

ve.dm.AnnotationSet.js
* Switched from property/value arguments to callbacks

ve.ui.*(Dialog|Inspector).js
* Replaced type patterns with class lists
* Added class to view registry

ve.ui.*Tool.js, ve.ui.Context.js
* Updated model/view relationship lookup

ve.ui.*Factory.js
* Removed overly-specific lookup functions

ve.ui.Inspector.js
* Removed typePattern property
* Updated model/view relationship lookup

ve.ui.ViewRegistry.js
* New class!
* Migrated node and annotation lookup functions from factories

Trevor Parscal 7ac32bc0f6 No more confusing boolean argument for closing windows
window.close( true ) thing sucked, and was being named and used
inconsistently throughout the code.

The new approach uses an action string, so it looks more like
window.close( 'accept' ) or window.close( 'back' ). This makes it easy
to steer the behavior at any point in the window close code path.

Most importantly for the link inspector, this allows us to now restore
the previous selection when the user presses escape or clicks the back
button, while still moving the cursor to the end and collapsing the
selection upon pressing enter and allowing removal by clicking the
trash can.

This commit also cleans some things up, like the various ways we have
to close an inspector which all seem useless because we wouldn't want
to just randomly close an inspector on someone. An inspector should
be closed only when the user has dealt with it.

ve.InspectorAction.js
* Removed close method

ve.ui.LinkInspector.js
* Updated documentation
* Passing action to parent method
* Updated logic to deal with change from "remove" to "action" argument
* Added selection restauration on "back" action

ve.ui.Context.js
* Added action to call to close
* Removed closeInspector method

ve.ui.Dialog.js
* Moved event handlers to the top
* Added actions to calls to close
* Added click block event handler to prevent focus changes

ve.ui.Inspector.js
* Added actions to calls to close
* Added storing of previous selection - this is different from
  initialSelection because it's captured before the selection is
  modified by setup

ve.ui.Window.js
* Updated documentation
* Updated argument name from "remove" to "action"

ve.ui.WindowSet.js
* Updated documentation
* Removed auto-close, replaced it with error if trying to open a window
  when another is already open
* Removed close method

Trevor Parscal f7335d4729 Support loading stylesheets into frames from different locations
This is one of the blockers for splitting VE up into separate
repositories or extending VE with an extension.

ve.ui.Frame.js

  It's critical that we don't emit initialize from ve.ui.Frame until
  it's completely loaded, especially its styles, because we will
  begin measuring it straight away.

  Involved loading the stylesheets using $.ajax and setting base
  URL of the iframe to the ve.ui styles directory so all the image
  URLs still worked. This won't work for stylesheets from multiple
  locations, so we needed a more robust solution.

  The new solution uses some trickery described in the code
  documentation, but essentially no longer depends on all
  stylesheets being located in the same folder.

ve.ui.Dialog.js, ve.ui.Inspector.js, ve.ui.Window.js

  Static methods are now being used to extend a window class to
  include different stylesheets rather than simple array
  concatenation.

Ed Sanders fdf30b1ac8 Store data in LinearData class with an index-value store for objects
Created an IndexValueStore class which can store any object and return
an integer index to its hash map.

Linear data is now stored in ve.dm.LinearData instances. Two subclasses
for element and meta data contain methods specific to those data types
(ElementLinearData and MetaLinearData).

The static methods in ve.dm.Document that inspected data at a given
offset are now instance methods of ve.dm.ElementLinearData.

AnnotationSets (which are no longer OrderedHashSets) have been moved
to /dm and also have to be instantiated with a pointer the store.

Trevor Parscal 1572ec1569 Context, frame, window, dialog and inspector refactor
This is a major refactor of user interface context, frame, dialog
and inspector classes, including adding several new classes which
generalize managing inspectors/dialogs (which are now subclasses
of window).

New classes:
* ve.ui.Window.js - base class for inspector and dialog classes
* ve.ui.WindowSet.js - manages mutually exclusive windows, used
  by surface and context for dialogs and inspectors respectively
* ve.ui.DialogFactory - generates dialogs
* ve.ui.IconButtonWidget - used in inspector for buttons in the head

Refactored classes:
* ve.ui.Context - moved inspector management to window set
* ve.ui.Frame - made iframes initialize asynchronously
* ve.ui.Dialog and ve.ui.Inspector - moved initialization to async
  initialize method

Other interesting bits:

ve.ui.*Icons*.css, *.svg, *.png, *.ai
* Merged icon stylesheets so all icons are available inside windows
* Renamed inspector icon to window

ve.ui.*.css
* Reorganized styles so that different windows can include only
  what they need
* Moved things to where they belonged (some things were in strange places)

ve.init.Target.js, ve.init.mw.ViewPageTarget.js, ve.init.sa.Target.js
* Removed dialog management - dialogs are managed by the surface now

ve.ui.*Dialog.js
* Renamed title message static property
* Added registration

Changes:

.docs/config.json
* Added window, HTMLDocument, HTMLElement, DocumentFragment and XMLHttpRequest to externals, so jsduck doesn't throw warnings when they are used

demos/ve/index.php, modules/ve/test/index.php, VisualEditor.php
* Moved widgets above tools (since tools use widgets)

demos/ve/index.php
* Refactored widget initialization to use options

Mistakes fixed:

* Warning: Unknown type Integer
  -> Mixed
* Warning: Unknown type Command

* Warning: Unknown type ve.ve.Surface

* ve.example.lookupNode:
  -> Last @param should be @return
* ve.dm.Transaction.prototype.pushReplace:
  -> @param {Array] should be @param {Array}
* Warning: ve.BranchNode.js:27: {@link ve.Node#hasChildren} links to non-existing member
  -> (removed)
* Warning: ve.LeafNode.js:21: {@link ve.Node#hasChildren} links to non-existing member
  -> (removed)

Differences fixed:
* Variadic arguments are like @param {Type...} [name]
  instead of @param {Type} [name...]
* Convert all file headers from /** to /*! because JSDuck tries
  to parse all /** blocks and fails to parse with all sorts of
   errors for "Global property", "Unnamed property", and
  "Duplicate property".
  Find: \/\*\*([^@]+)(@copyright)
  Replace: /*!$1$2
* Indented blocks are considered code examples.
  A few methods had documentation with numbered lists that were
  indented, which have now been updated to not be intended.
* The free-form text descriptions are parsed with Markdown,
  which requires lists to be separated from paragraphs by an
  empty line.
  And we should use `backticks` instead of {braces} for inline
  code in text paragraphs.
* Doc blocks for classes and their constructor have to be
  in the correct order (@constructor, @param, @return must be
  before @class, @abstract, @extends etc.)
* `@extends Class` must not have Class {wrapped}
* @throws must start with a {Type}
* @example means something else. It is used for an inline demo
  iframe, not code block. For that simply indent with spaces.
* @member means something else.
  Non-function properties are marked with @property, not @member.
* To create a link to a class or member, in most cases the name
  is enough to create a link. E.g. Foo, Foo.bar, Foo.bar#quux,
  where a hash stands for "instance member", so Foo.bar#quux,
  links to Foo.bar.prototype.quux (the is not supported, as
  "prototype" is considered an implementation detail, it only
  indexes class name and method name).
  If the magic linker doesn't work for some case, the
  verbose syntax is {@link #target label}.
* @property can't have sub-properties (nested @param and @return
  values are supported, only @static @property can't be nested).
  We only have one case of this, which can be worked around by
  moving those in a new virtual class. The code is unaltered
  (only moved down so that it isn't with the scope of the main
  @class block). ve.dm.TransactionProcessor.processors.

New:
* @mixins: Classes mixed into the current class.
* @event: Events that can be emitted by a class. These are also
  inherited by subclasses. (+ @param, @return and @preventable).
  So ve.Node#event-attach is inherited to ve.dm.BreakNode,
  just like @method is.
* @singleton: Plain objects such as ve, ve.dm, ve.ce were missing
  documentation causing a tree error. Documented those as a
  JSDuck singleton, which they but just weren't documented yet.
  NB: Members of @singleton don't need @static (if present,
  triggers a compiler warning).
* @chainable: Shorthand for "@return this". We were using
  "@return {classname}" which is ambiguous (returns the same
  instance or another instance?), @chainable is specifically
  for "@return this". Creates proper labels in the generated
  HTML pages.

Removed:
* @mixin: (not to be confused with @mixins). Not supported by
  JSDuck. Every class is standalone anyway. Where needed marked
  them @class + @abstract instead.

jenkins-bot 220d07ac43 Merge "Prevent Inspector frame from reloading on close." 2012-12-11 02:56:00 +00:00
Trevor Parscal 50f89a675e Add recursion guard back in
This was removed in I0873d906c058203b83b8d4bbe5a4b274f05a26fd because I had fixed another cause of the recursion - this is still needed however because the following still happens:

1. Link inspector is opened away from a word, so it goes into a mode that will insert text based on the chosen target
2. The link inspector is closed, causing a context change when the new annotated text is inserted
3. The context change event triggers the link inspector to close, leading us back to step 2
4. Browser dies in infinite loop hell

We may be able to fix this in a different way, like performing the document changes after the inspector has already closed by running it in a timeout. In any case, this works for now, and we can improve the design of this area of the code later on.

Trevor Parscal 353297e5b5 (bug 42925) Inspector doesn't open properly
ve.Range
* Rewrote truncate so that it works as expected, truncation should always reduce the length using the start/end values, not the from/to values

ve.ui.Inspector
* Added a comment about where the name argument to onBeforeInspectorOpen comes from, since it's a little bit confusing on first read (and I wrote it!)
* Calling onInitialize, onOpen and onClose methods directly, since we need to control the before or after-ness of listeners getting in there and doing their stuff - plus it's more direct
* Removed onRemove stub, which is never actually called
* Added before/after versions of initialize, open and close events
* Got rid of recursion guard since we don't need it anymore thanks to changes made in ve.dm.Surface (see below)

ve.ui.Context
* Updated event names to deal with new before/after naming of initialize, open and close events
* Removed fade-in logic since fading in doesn't even work anymore - since now we now annotate first, then open the inspector, the menu will actually exist and be open when we open the inspector even though you don't see it because it's quickly obscured

ve.ui.LinkInspector
* Made fragments non-auto selecting, in the case of onInitialize we actually call select(), which is silly since we were using an auto-selecting fragment - it's clear that this was a mistake

ve.dm.Surface
* Moved locking (polling stop and start) to the far outside edges of the change method
* I need a lot of eyes and testing on this change, it seems OK to me, but I'm suspicious that it may have side effects
* What was happening is that selection changes were being applied and then the poll was picking them up, and then the selection was coming in again as a change, but it wasn't a change at all, it was just feedback - this change event was then closing the inspector the instant it was opened - the odd part was that this only occurred when you selected backwards, which seems to be caused by the range being normalized, so it looked like a new selection even though it wasn't

ve.dm.Document
* trimOuterSpace from Range didn't consider annotated spaces to be spaces, by using the [0] trick (first character of a plain text character string or first element in an annotated character's array both are the character's value - but elements don't have a property named '0' so it skips those safely as well) we can always get the right value for comparison

Trevor Parscal 8fc98868c9 Fixed inspector behavior
ve.ui.Inspector
* Removed disabled state and interfaces - this isn't needed
* Renamed prepareSelection to onInitialize
* Using event emitter to run onInitialize, onOpen and onClose methods
* Left removal up to the child class to handle in the onClose method
* Replaced calls on context to close inspector to calling close directly
* Renamed prepareSelection stub to onInitialize
* Emitting initialize event from within the open method
* Added recursion guarding to close method
* Changed the close method's argument to be remove instead of accept - the more common case is to save changes, and the only time you wouldn't save changes is if you were to remove the annotation
* Moved focus restore to close method

ve.ui.Context
* Moved the majority of the code in openInspector and closeInspector to event handlers for onInspectorOpen and onInspectorClose
* Updated calls to closeInspector re: accept->remove argument change

ve.ui.LinkInspector
* Renamed prepareSelection to onInitialize and rewrote logic and documentation
* Removed unused onLocationInputChange method
* Moved restore focus (now it's in the inspector base class)

ve.dm.SurfaceFragment
* Added word mode for expandRange

ve.dm.Surface
* Added locking/unlocking while processing transactions - this was not an issue before because this was effectively being done manually throughout ce (which needs to be cleaned up) but once we started using the content action to insert content dm and ce started playing off each other and inserting in a loop - we already do this for undo/redo so it makes sense to do it here as well

ve.InspectorAction

Trevor Parscal d2476a26d2 The great inspector and context rewrite of 2012
ve.AnnotationAction
* Added filter to the clearAll method to allow clearing all matching annotations only

ve.dm.Document
* Some variable renaming for consistency

ve.dm.SurfaceFragment
* Added truncateRange method
* Added annotation scope to expandRange method
* Added support for passing an annotation object into annotateContent method
* Switched to using name instead of type in annotateContent method to match the ve.dm.Annotation class
* Fixed logic in annotation mode of expandSelection so that expansion only takes place if the annotation is found

ve.ui.LinkInspector
* Moved most of the functionality elsewhere
* General reorganization
* Changed setOverlayPosition to accept 2 arguments instead of an object with 2 properties and renamed it to positionOverlayBelow
* Check for annotation object before extracting target information from it
* Initialize default target as empty string to avoid undefined being cast to a string and the default target becoming 'undefined'

icons.ai, inspector.png, inspector.svg
* Added generic inspector icon which will be used when a custom icon is not specified in future inspector subclasses

ve.ui.Inspector.Icons
* Added inspector icon
* Renamed clear icon to remove to match it's actual image

ve.ui.Context
* Greatly simplified the interface, reducing the number of methods by inlining a few things and combining others
* Now always listening to resize events on the window rather than only while document is focused
* Not listening to scroll events anymore, they used to affect the top/bottom positioning of the menu which we don't do anymore
* Lots of cleanup and reorganization
* No need to fallback to empty array since getInspectorsForAnnotations does so already
* Only consider fully-covered annotations for inspectors

ve.ui.Frame
* Simplified the constructor by introducing the createFrame method
* General cleanup
* Typo fixes

ve.ui.Inspector
* Generalized lots of functionality previously located in the link inspector class which will be useful to all inspectors (such as title, clear button, saving changes, etc.)
* Added setDisabled and isDisabled methods to manage CSS changes and avoid needing to check the CSS to determine the state of the inspector (storing state in the view is evil)
* Added getMatchingAnnotations method for convenience
* Added prepareSelection stub
* Lots of cleanup and documentation
* Type pattern is now defined in base class
* Added stubs for onOpen and onClose with documentation so that subclass authors know what these methods do
* Removed checks for onOpen or onClose methods since they are now noop stubs and are always there
* Added stub and removed checks for onRemove
* Made esc key close and accept - the illusion is supposed to be that the link changes are applied instantly, even though they are only updated when you close, so all closing except for when removing should apply changes - i.e. esc is now equal to back rather than being a special function that doesn't have an associated affordance
* Only consider fully-covered annotations when getting matching annotations

ve.ui.InspectorFactory
* Depending on type pattern now since it's always there
* Added getInspectorsForAnnotations method
* Return empty array if annotation set is empty

VisualEditor, VisualEditor.i18n
* Added default inspector message

Timo Tijhof b1d9c83b5d Object management: Object create/inherit/clone utilities
* For the most common case:
  - replace ve.extendClass with ve.inheritClass (chose slightly
    different names to detect usage of the old/new one, and I
    like 'inherit' better).
  - move it up to below the constructor, see doc block for why.

* Cases where more than 2 arguments were passed to
  ve.extendClass are handled differently depending on the case.

  In case of a longer inheritance tree, the other arguments
  could be omitted (like in "ve.ce.FooBar, ve.FooBar,
  ve.Bar". ve.ce.FooBar only needs to inherit from ve.FooBar,
  because ve.ce.FooBar inherits from ve.Bar).

  In the case of where it previously had two mixins with
  ve.extendClass(), either one becomes inheritClass and one
  a mixin, both to mixinClass().

  No visible changes should come from this commit as the
  instances still all have the same visible properties in the
  end. No more or less than before.

* Misc.:
 - Be consistent in calling parent constructors in the
   same order as the inheritance.
 - Add missing @extends and @param documentation.
 - Replace invalid {Integer} type hint with {Number}.
 - Consistent doc comments order:
   @class, @abstract, @constructor, @extends, @params.
 - Fix indentation errors
   A fairly common mistake was a superfluous space before the
   identifier on the assignment line directly below the
   documentation comment.
   $ ack "^ [^*]" --js modules/ve
 - Typo "Inhertiance" -> "Inheritance".
 - Replacing the other confusing comment "Inheritance" (inside
   the constructor) with "Parent constructor".
 - Add missing @abstract for ve.ui.Tool.
 - Corrected ve.FormatDropdownTool to ve.ui.FormatDropdownTool.js
 - Add function names to all @constructor functions. Now that we
   have inheritance it is important and useful to have these
   functions not be anonymous.

   though before this commit, it really looks like this
   (flattened since ve.extendClass really did a mixin):

   < documentNode;

   Pattern in Sublime (case-sensitive) to find nameless
   constructor functions:
   "^ve\..*\.([A-Z])([^\.]+) = function \("

Trevor Parscal d208ca9002 Cleaned up uses of jQuery to create and appendTo/prependTo
* Separated DOM changes from creation of elements
* Always using parsing for element creation with known attributes
* Always using attr or addClass for variable attributes

* Removed all the DOM structure left over from the old sandbox demo
* Got rid of transparent backgrounds
* Added menu font-size rule to stand-alone target
* Moved some rules around that were in the wrong places
* Got rid of some unused/unneeded methods in the mw target (attach and detach surface methods)
* Added active class to context icon with shallower shadow effect so it doesn't break your spacial perception when you click on it
* Renamed the iframe and iframe wrapper elements so it's easier to see where they came from
* Removed unused CSS rules
* Fixed some uses of prop( 'class', … ) to addClass

Rob Moen dda2c932bd Added MW page suggestion functionality.
Created jQuery plugin MultiSuggest which builds a categorized dropdown
under specified input box.

Revised inspector to no longer be an iframe but to contain an Iframe.
This reduces xbrowser issues with positioning and toggling inspector
container.

Added Inspector overlay element for positioning arbitrary elements
over the iFrame. This prevents growing the iframe to arbitrary lenghts.

Timo Tijhof 88f6089952 Kranitor #1: On-boarding
'''Kranitor commits''' are commits by Krinkle with his janitor hat on.
Must never contain functional changes mixed with miscellaneous changes.

.gitignore:
 * Add .DS_Store to the ignore list so that browsing the directories
   on Mac OS X, will not add these files to the list of untracked
   files.
 * Fix missing newline at end of file

.jshintrc
 * raises -> throws
 * +module (QUnit.module)
 * remove 'Node' (as of node-jshint 1.7.2 this is now part of
   'browser:true', as it should be)

Authors:
 * Adding myself

MWExtension/VisualEditor.php
 * Fix default value of wgVisualEditorParsoidURL to not
   point to the experimental instance in WMF Labs.

Issues:
 * ve.ce.TextNode:
  - Fix TODO: Don't perform a useless clone of an already-jQuerified object.
  - Use .html() to set html content instead of encapsulating between
    two strings. This is slightly faster but more importantly safer,
    and prevents situations where the resulting jQuery collection
    actually contains 2 elements instead of 1, thus messing up
    what .contents() is iterating over.
 * ve.ce.Document.test.js
  - Fix: ReferenceError: assert is not defined
 * ve.dm.Document.test.js
  - Fix: ReferenceError: assert is not defined
 * ve.dm.Transaction.test.js
  - Fix: ReferenceError: assert is not defined
 * ve.dm.TransactionProcessor.test.js
  - Fix: ReferenceError: assert is not defined
 * ext.visualEditor.viewPageTarget
  - Missing dependency on 'mediawiki.Title'

Code conventions / Misc cleanup
 * Various JSHint warnings.
 * Whitespace
 * jQuery(): Use '<tag>' for element creation,
   use '<valid><xml/></valid>' for parsing
 * Use the default operator instead of ternary when the condition and
   first value are the same.
   x = foo ? foo : bar; -> x = foo || bar;
   Because contrary to some programming language (PHP...), in JS the
   default operator does not enforce a boolean result but returns the
   original value, hence it being called the 'default' operator, as
   opposed to the 'or' operator.
 * No need to call addClass() twice, it takes a space-separated list
   (jQuery splits by space and adds if needed)
 * Use .on( event[, selector], fn ) instead of the deprecated
   routers to it such as .bind(), .delegate() and .live().
   All these three are now built-in and fully compatible with .on()
 * Add 'XXX:' comments for suspicious code that I don't want to change
   as part of a clean up commit.
 * Remove unused variables (several var x = this; where x was not
   used anywhere, possibly from boilerplate copy/paste)
 * Follows-up Trevor's commit that converts test suites to the new
   QUnit format. Also removed the globals since we no longer use those
   any more.

Rob Moen 5e27d6a7a2 Revised inspector iframe construction to allow multiple inspectors
to be added. Create inspector elements in the propper document
scope. Restore inspector css classnames to camel case for proof
that inspectors are being created in the correct document scope.
Previously, inspector elements created in the wrong document scope
would have css rules applied only if class names were lowercase.
Issue only surfaced in Webkit browsers. Though, this implementation
is more future proof and will help prevent future inspector bugs.
Patch 3) Fixed global variable definition and mistake with
inspectorDoc
