Note this doesn't fully solve T374068. The issue is probably that the reuse tab shouldn't be visible in the first place. Still I think this is a useful safe-guard that cannot hurt. The Cite extension to MediaWiki provides a way for wiki editors to add references and footnotes to articles.

Cite is responsible for implementing the <ref>
and <references>
tags in wikitext. Integrations are provided for the legacy wikitext parser, Parsoid, WikiEditor, VisualEditor, and the reading interface.
